Manitowoc – Dianne Barbara Maedke, age 84, of The Gardens at Felician Village, 1700 S. 18th Street, Manitowoc, WI died peacefully on Thursday afternoon, February 17th, 2022 at Sharon Richardson Community Hospice Facility, Sheboygan Falls, WI.

She was born on December 19, 1937, in Manitowoc; daughter of the late Alois and Barbara (Rhode) Wier. A 1957 graduate of Lincoln High School, Manitowoc, Dianne served a two-year apprenticeship earning her Cosmetology degree in 1959. Dianne worked as a Cosmetologist for 35 years truly enjoying her work. She loved all of her clients who she became very close to over the years.

On August 6, 1960 Dianne married the late Robert “Bob” A. Maedke at Holy Innocents Parish, Manitowoc. Dianne and Bob had three children: Kathy, Mike and Tom.

Dianne enjoyed all sports but like her late husband, Bob, her passion was football. She loved fall which brought high school Friday night lights, college football on Saturday and NFL games on Sunday. She enjoyed painting, arts and crafts with her friends at Felician Village and spending time with her (7) grandchildren and (4) great grandchildren, always being a proud and supportive Gammy (grandmother).

While Dianne was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Manitowoc, she was also an active member of the Catholic Woman’s Club. She enjoyed the lakeshore and shared an enthusiasm for lighthouses across the United States. Holidays were a special time for Dianne, never missing the opportunity to dress up in costume just to make everyone’s time more fun.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn & Jim Francl, Appleton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Mike & Denise Maedke, Green Bay and Tom & Dionne Maedke. Seven grandchildren: Jennifer (Jim) Love, Austin TX; Vanessa (Jeremy) Ploederl, Appleton; Mallory Maedke, New York, NY; Sam Maedke, Glendale, AZ; Julia Maedke, San Antonio, TX; Macallan Maedke, Dallas, TX and Aubrey Maedke, Milwaukee, WI; four great grandchildren including Evelyn and Jimmy Love; Liam and Ella Ploederl; one brother, Richard Wier, Two Rivers; two sisters-in-law, Sandra (Roy) Olson and Doris Cain, Manitowoc; one brother-in-law, Eugene Maedke, Manitowoc. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.

Dianne is preceded in death by her parents, Alois and Barbara (Rhode) Wier; brother and sister- in-law, Norman & Jane Wier; sister-in-law, Doris (Richard) Wier; infant brother, Tommy; special cousins: Alyce Moorhead, Johnny Rhode, Jimmy Wier, Jack Kabat and other family members.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Parish, Two Rivers. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Dave Pleier. Cremation has occurred at All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc and Dianne will be laid to rest at Knollwood Mausoleum, town of Kossuth.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday, March 5th 2022 at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Parish, 3201 Mishicot Rd., Two Rivers, WI from 9am – 10:45 am.

Dianne truly enjoyed her time at Felician Village and cherished her special friends including; Pat Holler, Sis, Joane, Deloris, Megan Bruckschen, Roselle Holschbach-Jacobi as well as the fun crew that gathered together for their Monday and Wednesday dinners.

Special thanks to Sandy, Nan & Sue, ICU Nurses at Holy Family Hospital and the entire care team from Sharon Richardson Community Hospice Center.

Dianne loved to have fun and frequently shared; “Laugh every day and your life will be great!” While she loved life and lived each day to its fullest, she definitely missed her “Bobby”.

Pa is waiting for you Ma! You are together again…
