The following is a list of the upcoming programs at the Racine Public Library.

Please note: COVID-19 safety information for RPL is below the programming information.

Library News

The library is excited to announce that as of March, programs and storytimes will meet in person! We’re excited to invite you back into the building for storytimes, speakers, book discussions and craft projects. The library’s other services continue to be available for in-person use during open hours.

125th Anniversary Trivia Night Fundraiser

Saturday, March 26th | 7 p.m.

Adult Services Lake-Facing Windows – 2nd Floor

Help the Racine Public Library celebrate its 125th Anniversary!

Your ticket gets you a fun night of trivia, a catered dinner from Captain Mikes and one pint of beer or a glass of wine. The trivia questions will be professionally facilitated by American Pub Quiz and will focus on general knowledge and literature.

Single tickets are $30, and tables of 8 are priced at $200.

Retro Gaming Night

Friday, March 25 | 6 – 9 p.m. | Doors open at 5:45, doors close at 6:15

Join us for Retro Gaming Night! Play NES and SNES classics from the ‘80s and ‘90s on our Switch, and try our other retro gaming consoles. We’ll also host an Oregon Trail tournament, giant chess and capture the flag.

Registration is required.

Sensory Room

The Racine Public Library’s sensory room is now open for use. The room can be booked for both children and adults. To make an appointment, please call the library at 262-636-9217, or stop by the first-floor youth services desk.

Maker Monday Take-and-Make

Monday, March 14 | Open Hours | Adult Services Reference Desk – 2nd Floor

Stop by for a take-and-make gift from the Racine Public Library’s digital services and innovation team. Kits are first come, first served.

No Registration is required.

Maker Monday Drop-in

Monday, March 14 | 9 a.m.- 7 p.m. | Innovation Lab – 2nd Floor

The Innovation Lab will be open all day for you to stop in and try our 3D printers, laser engravers, virtual reality, drones and more! You can even stay for a while to use our gaming systems.

No Registration is required.

Tech Help Appointments

Thursday, March 17 | 1 p.m. | Innovation Lab – 2nd Floor

Need help with your laptop, tablet or smartphone? The Racine Public Library Tech Team is here to help! Make an appointment, and a library team member will assist you, one-on-one, with any questions you might have.

Intro to At-Home Gardening

Tuesday, March 15 | 6 p.m. | Zoom

Starting your home garden will be a breeze after this program. Bring your questions, and get ready to learn some horticultural skills.

Spice it Up! White Pepper

Wednesday, March, 16 | Open Hours | Adult Services Reference Desk – 2nd Floor

Patrons will be able to pick up a sample of the spice of the month, a description and history of the spice and 2-3 recipes to use the spice in. First come first serve. Limit 1 per person. Available at the Adult Reference desk.

English Reading Practice

Thursday, March 17 | 6:30 p.m. | Zoom

Practice English by reading and discussing poems and short stories out loud. All levels of English language learners are welcome.

3D Printing 101

What can you make with a 3D printer? The possibilities are endless. We’ll show you how to find and even make your own models to take home.

Minecraft Club

Saturday, March 12 | 2 p.m. | Google Meet | Grades 4-12

Minecrafters, we want to see what you’ve got! Come hang out with us on the library’s Minecraft server. Depending on your playstyle, this server can focus on minigames, competitions, building a massive city and more. We can’t wait to host you!

Anime and Manga Club

Saturday, March 12 | 1 p.m. | Lee Room – 1st Floor, in Atrium

What anime have you been dying to show people? At Anime and Manga Club, the remote is yours. Bring a recommendation for what we’ll watch today, and tell us about what manga you’ve been reading lately.

Y.A.L.L: Minute to Win It

Monday,  March 14 | 4:30 p.m. | Lee Room – 1st Floor

Race against the clock in these fun party games! You’ll also find out information about how your ideas can help shape future library programs and events for teens at the library. If you’ve got thoughts, we want to hear from you.

Dungeons and Dragons Club

Participate in a Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) campaign of your own creation! With help from Dungeon Master Michael, teens in grades six through 12 will plan and run their own D&D sessions. Just bring your ideas; the library will supply all the materials you’ll need.

Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women

Friday, March 18 | 12 p.m. | Adult Services – East Windows

Rachel Fernandez, from the Maeqtekuahkihkiw Metaemohsak, Inc., Woodland Women, presents on the missing and murdered Indigenous Women of the United States and Canada.

No Registration is required.

COVID-19 Library Information

  • The library is open to browsing, hold pickups, computer use, study room use, tech help, reference questions, and anything else someone might want to visit the building for.
  • The Bookmobile is operating under its normal hours and is open for one party to browse on-board at a time.
  • The library and Bookmobile require everyone to wear masks inside, and there are surgical-grade masks available to patrons who don’t have their own.
  • The library building is maintaining the social distancing layout, so computer stations, desks, etc. are all spaced to facilitate patron safety.
  • Hand sanitizer is available throughout the building as well.
